Hm, too bad every big file I download ends up corrupt. I'll download it at school tomorrow.

And Caspar, for more speed try the Microsoft download link (they have pretty fast download servers).

Oh, and the game isn't out yet, only the demo.

Jesus Christ, that installer took 20 minutes! And then it decides to tell me my computer is too shit to run it. HAH. Of course then I tried anyway and it ran perfectly. GOOD JOB MICROSOFT.

I found it to be just as overblown as Age of Mythology. I can't think of any redeeming qualities -- the voice acting is pitiful, the graphics look like Bubsy 3D, the interface is horrific... I think my experience can be summed up in this screenshot:

I've been playing Age of Empires II: HD edition yesterday, also from Steam. With this High Definition version, it has support for high resolutions now, and you can build 500 units! I got to over 400. Also multiplayer probably works again, if anything had gone broken. There is a giantic lists of sides you can pick. They compiled all the expansion packs in it too.

I'm a fan because I played AoE 2 in high school a lot when I was young. Now I think back of it, most kids playing were actually cheating or really good at it. I played fair but was of average skill. I always used a large group of elephants as a surprise!

Have you also seen that FAKE ad where they play on your emotions about how you played ao2 back on windows when you were a kid and then tell you it is now finally on mobile and it is a comepletely other game while the ad is actually showing footage of ao2?

How is that even legal?

I think I have seen that advertisement somewhere a lot of time ago indeed. I was thinking the same about it.

I just play the newer version of AoE 2 on Windows 10. Gaming on a mobile phone does not really appeal to me, better keep it for the console, handheld console or the computer. My mobile phone has some hard glass screen anyway and no fit gaming buttons.

But how long will I continue to enjoy these old games. Maybe I bought them to continue to do multiplayer games on a network somewhere with friends in the future, more than playing single player games. I never used to do that in the past too, it's just that these games seemed new again.

I can play anything on my PS Vita with Vita Shell and Vita Homebrew Browser. I use it mostly to play emulator games and stuff. From Sega Genesis to SNES, to even PSP games using Adrenaline.

A few months from now (on 28 Oct, 2021), Age of Empires IV will be released on Steam. This is the new version of Age of Empires created in 3D, looking a lot like Age of Empires II (an older version) but larger and better. It seems to go back to classic folks like AoE 2 and AoE 1 were.

https://store.steampowered.com … _of_Empires_IV/

The cost is 60 euros! Hopefully worth it. The PC requirements are not all too high, it is for Windows 10 and a Graphics Intel HD 520 chip is good enough.
