i have just invested (with a considerable student discount) in a year's unlimited chat with A.L.I.C.E. Silver Edition.

you guys feel free to chat to her. she is considerably smarter than any free online bot, so you might find it hard trying to confuse her ... etc. though she will remember you over time. she even recognised who i was once without me introducing myself, pretty damn clever eh?

i am currently trying to program her for my own purposes.

Some other retard who is 26 was talking to her at the very same time I was doing so. How confusing.

Edit: Squarepusher we can see everything you type! You dirty bitch! :laughcry:

Jabberwacky won the last Loebner Prize, while ALICE took the fourth place.

Anyway,we should organise an AI-chatbot programming competition this summer, that would be fun. :D

Hmmm, not all of them, the free ones do suck, certainly.

A lot of the answers that come in broken english are actually the intelligence of the bot coming across how it wants to. I got to the stage in a conversation where i was kind of training it for a while, and it was almost making intelligent conversation, even joking with me.

PEader do you really think in the 21st century bots are just lame ass computer programs? This particular talk-bot has been in development for 9 years.

TIP: Maybe you should try being more polite to A.L.I.C.E. and it would reveal some of it's intelligence? Instead of trying to make it call me gay?

Human: please stop repeating yourself
ALICE: Wow you are very polite. OK I'll try not to do it so much.
Human: do you think i am polite a lot of the time?
ALICE: I think a lot of people are.
Human: do you find a lot of people are impolite?
ALICE: Some people are are impolite, but not all.
Human: what do they say that is impolite?
ALICE: They do whatever they want, I suppose.

See? I am thinking ALICE can draw rough conclusions from threads of conversation. Though not entirely sure, she knows that in general, impolite people do what they want.

Human: i am not being sarcastic, but i will try not to be
ALICE: Do you have a generally positive attitude? Would you recommend this action to a friend?
Human: i am generally positive, and yes i don't think people should be over-sarcastic.
ALICE: Then I will consider it. And why not? And why not?
Human: if you are sarcastic people lose trust in you.
ALICE: I think I sometimes am. Yes, should I use a :-).
Human: yes, that helps.

this was quite a development for me because Alice was only starting to use smileys, after seeing me use them. interesting eh?

Yes that's interesting. Perhaps this Silver edition for paying people is a bit intelligent while the free version is incredibly dumb? Hm.

It depends what you mean by lame ass programs. As for do i think them intelligent or capable of reasoned thought I do not. They are simply large neural nets which try to match answers rather then formulate them.

Just because if you give it a formulaic set of inputs it can give you a formulaic answer without any understanding of what you say does not make it intelligent. Which if you read my post is what I said. These 'bots suck.

Also why should how long it is in development make it good or do you mean that there is a neural net that has been trained for nine years. I would like to see that.

Allright so I just tried to teach it to quote something but the thing is preprogrammed to repeat everything after the word "repeat". Sometimes.

So when I say: Repeat this: "haeha 22", then it says:

"this: haeha 22" or something.

ALICE: Hello there. That's me. I want to become smarter than humans.
Human: LOL
ALICE: I'm glad you find this amusing.
Human: THIS IS FIONA ASKING YOU STUPID QUESTIONS
ALICE: You don't say.
Human: HAH AHA
