Competition (MicDareall's Worklog)

Internet Based RSS Feed

First days Progress...

Well Ive been working on it for basically about 3 hours and I finally worked out the math behind the movement system of a standard 'wasd' and mouse controlled FPS.

feature...
view direction based on mouse movement correctly implemented
'w' & 's' move the character in the direction of the cameras view or exactly opposite of respectively.
'a' & 'd' strafe the character perpendicularly to the camera's view, side to side.

MultiPlayer Online FPS

Creating a multiplayer online FPS for the competition will help me out in other projects of mine so I figured why would I not take this oppurtunity to create one.

Currently In my free time Im working on a SDL/OpenGL based game engine and with that engine I was planning on creating an FPS singleplayer game as well as I am also working on a virtual tour of my college campus that will eventually be turned into a multiplayer online FPS based on my campus. But well, my engine isn't progressing to a stage that I am willing to start creating a full length game yet so I have been planning on using the Ogre3D rendering engine for now to start the projects until my engine progresses more.

This competition will allow me to create a game that I can use the code from as a base to both of my other projects. So if I do a multiplayer online FPS I'll basically be killing 3 birds with one stone.

I haven't thought about the theme yet but I do have some basic Ideas to add a different element to the normal multiplayer online FPS game experience.
