I think Rincewind's price is too low, in fact I'd pay 1800 for this. (euros that is)

Bought from Finland: GaysDoingMen.com

It excludes the liquid cooling system, case, psu, crysis, spiderman 3 bluray and the free t-shirt.
Also vista is OEM, the normal version is 150 euros more.

Why 20 inch screen? The 22" model is just 50 euros more and is awesome, since I'm watching it.
Looks like a rubbish system price-wise.

Don't buy your shit from Finland.

Rincewind is doin my shopping from now on!

Thanks Dennis for a fairly resonable price.

As for (. )( .) , it is an OEM. and i may consider the 22", Corsair 650W and upgrading the coolermaster liquid cooling system to a Swiftech liquid cooling system.

Also (. )( .) made a very good estimate as well but as he stated he is missing numerous parts and as well as this the G5 mouse and G15 are the 2007 refresh editions. You might also want to take note that the motherboard is a different version from the one above.

Also as Dennis said the price is supposed to be in euros including vat..

I did a search on Alienware and an inferior specced machine was selling for over €2700 with 19" non-hd monitor

I'm pretty sure the G5 and G15 were the 2007 editions, eventhough it doesn't say this. Mobo is also the same, cheap-ass fatal1ty crap.

The blu-ray drive is a bit of oxymoron if you ask me. And Logitech's overpriced keyboard and mouse. As is premium memory, even if you're into overclocking. Cut the difference between premium mem and normal mem and you get a better cpu to start with? Or mobo. Since you're getting Vista why not get 4GB's of mem? That's what I would do. A 450 watt psu could propably run this system just pefectly fine. It all just points to a fact that you're in the money.

I just don't get the meaning of this topic. I hate it.

I have to agree with (.)(.) opinion that you're spending your money in all of the wrong places. My prioritys would lie:

+ Processor (of course, top of the list)
+ Quantity of RAM
+ Graphics Card
+ Monitor
and if you're into overclocking etc:
+ Cooling system

Bottom of my list would be:
+ Aesthetics (My PC sits below my desk, and even if I had space for it on the desk-top, I wouldn't care)
+ Lightscribe (I dont know a single person who has need to use this enough to cover the cost)
+ Blu-ray (what if HD-DVD won?)
+ Second optical drive

I agree but I don't believe this machine is lacking much!

The graphics card is worth over €250.
The processor is considered the best processor for its money.
The monitor is currently the best 20" and is better than the 22" as there is a 2 in 3 chance of getting a substandard one.
I think I might add an extra 1 gig but not 2 as the 2nd one will not be visible due to the limitations of 32-bit Vista.
I am personally not sure about the mobo but I was recommended it because of it unbelievable value for money and there is no reason to buy a more expensive motherboard. I also read elsewhere that there is currently a lot of problems with 680i motherboards but this could be pure myth

Don't get pissy because you have been extremely helpful in your opinions.

I am building a computer to sell to a friend for €2499. I decided to base it on the Dream PCs in CustomPC but without the €10,000 - €15,000 price tag. I must disagree about the comment about overpriced accessories. I own these accessories myself and ( come to think of it I think they're overpriced a bit too especially the G15) obviously you haven't owned a G5. This mouse can provides precision and speed which you don't see in other mouses. It is also the perfect mouse for computers with multi-users as my mother uses Photoshop at 400dpi and i play games at 1000- 1600dpi. Also the speakers while a bit steep, there is absolutely no comparison in sound ( without putting a system together manually which is beyond many people).

I understand where you're coming from but if I seperated the accesories from the computer, you may have had a different opinion of the build.

Please continue to comment as I am configuring the spec as I write! Just remember if I was confident with the spec I wouldn't have asked.

I'd just like to say that I own a G15 (the blue, much cooler one) and a G5 (the blue, much cooler one) and they are both kickass.

Also, I wouldn't buy that sound system, as for the same price you can get, in my opinion, better sound by buying a second hand amplifier with a bunch of speakers. But as you say, that might be too difficult.

Also if i'm selling it, a second hand amplifier isn't too tempting. Blue G15? as in leds like? Its not available any more anyway but i predered the look of the old version althought the newer model is probably more practical. As for the blue G5, this is the one im using at the moment!

You can't seriously say the Samsung 206BW is the best 20" screen out there. It's a TN-panel which is the cheapest type, and in this rare case it doesn't mean the best.

The other panel for the 226BW haven't shown up much on the old continent if I remember right. Though you could always RMA it if you'd happen to get the wrong panel.

I can say it... but it certainly mightn't be true. In the opinion of CustomPC magazine and the customer reviews on Komplett.ie would agree with me however

As for the 226bw, on the same website Komplett.ie, they're have been an abundant of complaints about this monitor.. They've calmed down a little now so perhaps they're only selling the proper monitor now.
