Every good brit knows that Eurovision is all about laughing at everyone else's act as a bit of light comedy, and sleeping easy with the knowledge that noone's going to give us any points untill we withdraw from Iraq. Gone are the days when the best song actually had a chance of winning, which is fortunate because the act that we chose to send to Helsinki on saturday was the most camp, cheesey, and musically embarrising thing that was on offer. I was just wondering what the rest of you thought about it (obviously, assuming you're european). Does anyone but the Eastern Europeans take it more seriously than us brits? I mean, Justing Hawkins was up for selection, and he clearly wasn't taking it seriously at all. Do any of you think that your county has any chance of winning this year (time to think about your political friends)? I just think it would be cool to see what the rest of you europeans think of the whole idea. And if there are any non-europeans, what they think of the whole thing. But, you know, after lordi won it last year, I was hoping for something a bit different from the Brits, something a bit heavier, something that wasn't generic and eurovision. But no, we're sending Scooch instead  .

well I didn't exactly laugh when I heard how much subsidies went to the Belgian (or whatever) participant of this eurovision shit. Finland: 'To our dearest sweet beloved foreign immigrants and neighbours, Sweden, 11 points'... Turkey: 'To our best friends CYPRUS, YAY!!!!! now were's that car bomb I had here gone to?' what's the word? Hypocryt? I came home I asked 'did we get 1 point' and the answer was 'no' so I went of playing some games. ____________ Kwakkel |

Did I miss the Eurovision then? I remember after Lordi won last year I was looking forward to this year hoping that there would be some metal from everywhere. No you haven't missed eurovision yet, I was just prompted to make this after the "Making Your Mind Up" show on BBC1 on saturday, where we chose which act to send to eurovision. I'm assuming a few more heavy bands this year, as each year everyone copies last year's winner. ____________ |
