it could be any amount of squares from 1 to so many, but like they need walls of course ,anyhow..i am seriously considering modfying this alot..i might have a big playfield and have it scrolling, with a minimap bottom centre so you can see the ghosts?? like a radar?!
Or is that too crazy??

If it is to be one square mile, you'd better have savegame functionality... :)

Wow can you imagine pacman with a huge scrolling playfield? It would completely change the nature of the game... It'd be like an rpg in a way - you'd have to find your way around the whole map to collect all the pills or something. Wow I'm tired.

Thankyou for that MI3, I think they were edging towards turning this topic into a joke! Of course I am striving for improvement!!
Anyhow I have added scrolling, but the ghosts now need some A.I because the bigger the playfield the more daft random movement looks, I basically find that I can wonder around for ages without being threatened. However I have a few neat ideas also! I could incorperate Warp points on the maze for starters, that you or the ghosts can use, that would be pretty damned funny! Also not to make the maze overly big,I had tested a really big map (1280x1280)
Probably overkill, what I am aiming for is some balance!

I wont be working on this for a week now, because my wife goes into hospital to have the babies!! Yes twins, she will be having a ....how you say when they slit the belly open??anyhow that! And I have 4 other kids to care for in the meanwhile!

Congatulations on your children! And I hope the cesarean goes well.

That pacman game sounds awesome. Could you allow people to change the resolution of them game? 'cause on my monitor 1280x1280 would only need to scroll slightly. (I use 1280x1024 resolution)

If the game didn't have a feature to change resolution it would use fixed resolution whether windowed or fullscreen, wouldn't it. So for example a 640x480 window would scroll around a big playfield exactly the same on all display resolutions.

This is what I kinda meant, press spacebar at the main effigy, but i dunno, just doesnt feel good enough, as I said the random movement is just not enough, whether it improves when I get them to wrap around again via escape routes or if the warping method improves it..I dunno yet..
Note that the radar maybe doesnt need to be there,I found myself just staring at that to play the game...LOL!!!!
And yes i was gunna make the radar jump to the top of the screen when pacman was too near it and so forth....
God damnit i just dont get them links usage,i put the addy between the f00kazzzz, after em..I mean what the FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU..anyhow....thats me gone for the week!!

If anyone here has played Bomberman 2 on the NES (which has a huge scrolling play field) then you'll know that it can all go horribly, horribly wrong.

and you gain exp to level up and when you encounter a ghost the screen fades to a battle screen where you battle that ghost and inflict damage with pac-weapons and magic. :O
