How the hell can I get rid of a trojan horse of my pc? Atm all it's doing is bringing up popups, as good old AVG AntiVirus stops it doing anything else. I just can't get rid of it. AVG will happilly stop it doing anything, but wont find it when you scan the computer, Ad-aware (SE) is being useless and not finding anything but the usual cookies and MRU lists. Whenever AVG stops it doing anything, it tells me the filepath of the file, and they're normally in "tmp" or "tempory internet files" folders, so ive deleted all of those i can find, its still there. Any suggestions?

If its infected your browser you could try reinstalling it, I suppose...

Suggestions: - Try a newer version of AVG instead of the old one. - Try a different virus scanner - if it is adware you can sometimes uninstall it. If you cannot uninstall it, but you can figure out which program is doing it you can block that program with a firewall rule. ____________ |

yeah, i scanned the areas it keeps coming up in today with AVG again, and it's been doing less, but it does appear to have affected IE, how would i reinstall IE without an install disk?

not. IE is quite inherited in the operating system, so you might want to reinstall windows and after that make sure it never gets there again in the first place.

Or, Go to add/remove programs, select Internet Explorer and choose "repair". ____________ |

You could do that, but it is impossible to click on something that isn't in the list so... you need to reinstall windows. If you choose add/remove windows components you only remove a link to internet explorer in the start menu.

Repair IE if this doesn' work do the following: Download Hijackthis and it will remove browser helper objects. Download some antispyware and run that to clear everything up. i did that, and then it screwed up morpheus, so I uninstalled it. And don't go telling me that morpheus sucks... use client blah blah... cause i've already gone through most of peoples suggestions, and prefer morpheus in most ways
