Ohgod, I started watching Swiss - Ecuador at around 50 minute mark and then started rooting for a 2-1 finish thinking that I had placed that bet. Turns out it was Sandman... Like I said, ohgod. A well deserved win for the swiss, eventhough delivering the winning goal took far too long. There were bad passes and equally bad choises. A lot. I missed the first half of France - Honduras as well and again started rooting for a 3-0 finish because I thought I had placed that bet. Thankfully Sandman didn't have that one this time. I didn't know Honduras was missing a man until the match ended but they were just taking it up the bum hard. Way worse than one man down should be. I think France is back. Argentina - B&H was a late one and I managed to watch the first half but fell asleep during the second. Anyhow, at first I thought Argentina was playing in the darker kit because the light blue ones were so passive. Yeah, I was wrong. Argentina got an early present in the form of an own goal but as a whole, B&H pretty much owned the first half. They played better together and created more or atleast better scoring opportunities. I had to double check Argentina's roster because they looked so helpless but nope, it's talent all around. Of course all eyes were pointed at Messi. I lost count how many times he would rather lose the ball than pass it to a teammate. Call me silly but based on the first half, B&H impressed me and Argentina left me cold. I don't know anything about Iran and Nigeria but I'm pretty sure they'll only play three games in this tournament. Then there's Ghana and Team USA as a late night game. Ghana has been one of my favourites during the past few tournaments, so it has to be Ghana that comes out on top of this! And if they can win today and then beat Portugal, Portugal is out. What I basically think with the Germany vs Portugal match, is that yes Portugal do have Ronaldo, but that is about it, Germany is usually strong all the way through their team and not just over-reliant on one player only, something I can blame England of doing in the past! It is teamwork that counts.

Ahahahahahahaha Portugal ahhaahaahaahahaaaa. That wasn't Pepe's first headbutt if I recall correctly. Germany's Müller is such an odd figure on the field -no tattoos, muscles or ridiculous hair-, he's just in the right place doing just the right stuff. This time a hattrick's worth of right stuff. By the way, what's up with all the mohawks and tattoos? Is football such a girly sport that you need those for street cred or what? You can't really call this "footballer fashion" invidualism either as every other guy is the same. I'm just getting old, aren't I? Back to the match; first half was good but it was so easy for Germany especially after Pepe's red card, that there's no tales for future generations. Did not see Iran - Nigeria but apparently it was the dullest match of the tournament and the very first draw. Goalless even. There was an average of 3.5 goals per match before that game. Killjoys. I think certain someone's sleeping rhytm is finally ruined as there was no problem watching the late night match USA - Ghana. USA's first attack lead to a goal after 29 seconds of play. Yeah, bam. Guess what happened then? USA got a few counter attacks while Ghana dominated the field. Too bad they didn't really have any tools near the box. They must have tried over a dozen low crossings to the goal from the side but none of them resulted to anything. For an obvious reason: there was two to three USA players before any ghanians. What's super silly about that is they didn't change this tactic after half-time. What the hell? Then there was the shooting. Not sure when's the last time I've seen as inaccurate and of as poor quality shooting (I do remember: every time Finland plays). Obviously a few shots(8/21) reached the goalie but Howard was a wall. USA's goalkeeper is a keeper. USA's second goal some how fitted the game's image: a Ghana defender played a little soft and gave away a corner kick and then Ghana didn't defend during the corner kick and USA scored. Not sure how good they are in this football stuff though. Brazil had a dream start with that questionable penalty kick that changed everything. I think this game will show their true potential better and Mexico will overall be a better opponent for them. It's not that Capello is a hack but Russia's heyday was under Guus Hiddink. They were certainly a force to be reckoned with then and that's a Russia to be fearful of. Let's see. Belgium is considered a dark horse. So much so that they're pretty much expected to win everything. Uhum what?! How does that work out? I only saw a little of the game but it looked a bit like Belgia was banging it's head against an Algerian christmas tree. That being said, Belgia did create plenty of opportunities but iced them with unlucky finishing. Almost as if they couldn't bottle playing one behind against Algeria, whom have scored previously in 1986. Fine, they participiated four years ago and didn't score any. The scoresheet for Brazil - Mexico may appear like it was a bore but in reality it was far away from that. Both had plenty of fine attacks, Mexico mainly shooting over the crossbar(like 10 times or something) and Brazil's attempts got blocked by Mexico's goalkeeper. He made some really spectacular saves there. Brazil had the upperhand but I think a draw was a very well deserved outcome. Wish they had scored some though. As feared, Capello's Russia is far away from Hiddink's. Altho it's very defensive they managed to create plenty of attacks, which dried out inside the box. There was no idea behind them, much like what was Ghana's problem. On the other side, South Korea created some very good looking attacks, but then again it's easier to create impressive looking attacks from counter-attacks. Overall they played pretty good ball. Neither goal was pretty, though North Korea's goal was perhaps one of the sillyest in a long time. If they are so bold they might even let a few players rest this one. Spain has everything to prove and I wouldn't write them out yet, but Chile was also pretty good. Spain lost so magnificently to Dtuchland that they basically need to win this one, whereas a draw for Chile might be enough. A close one. Cameroon's most shiny star Eto was injured and is out, but then again Croatia's team was pictured naked while doing something croatian.
