Why forget about being a bedroom coder in that case? Anything is possible. Open your mind lol. So what if you have a hard time taking a shit or having a cold? Does that mean you get unhappy? No. Stop being a caucasian baby and start being a real man.

Zomg: I am a real man.

I'm quite amused your analogy of living in a shed with no water makes no sense in this case.

If you mean games hobbyist, sure I don't want to stop that. I'd make it my career if I could which is the point of my recent posts.

I don't understand why you take things so personally.

Does that mean you're not posting in this thread anymore?

> Now you don't have to get a job after university! What are your plans for after university?

bleh, I've been "after university" for almost 4 years now. Plans = earn money, I guess... Retire age 30. Ahhh.

This is my problem really - if you'd asked me what my plans were 5,6,7 years ago I would have had so many more... robotics, AI, games... now it's just "earn money". It's just harsh reality I suppose. Now I've had some success I need to go back and dig up my old creativity...

but yeah, Vocaroo is nice. I should be grateful to have this.

> ranked #1 on Google for the search terms "voice recording", "voice recorder" and "online voice recorder",

something like Vocaroo where the content is created by the user for sharing is easier to get these results, has a viral nature, since users naturally want to link to their recordings in forums and stuff, and these backlinks improve google rating and recruit new users. also when a user embeds the audio player in their site I also embed a backlink with random link text each time for different keywords (e.g. "voice recorder", "record your voice"..etc). This had a great effect.

Though unfortunately it's very hard to come up with an original idea of this type, I had that idea 5-6 years ago and haven't had one anywhere near as good since :)

> Or something in the Apple app store they keep saying. Yeah nice one. Like I can even afford Unity3d iOS license...

Square, for the record, there is a Bennu port for iOS! It's fairly easy to make some small mini game that will be accepted.

Nice hearing all these viewpoints :-)

btw, Zomg your tranquilisers are on back order. Hang in there.

I take things personally? You should learn how to write. You wrote "YOUR"! That is a personal pronoun!!! Your!!! Damn people these days have become illiterate.

DTM, very nice for your software. There are people who really struggle to stay on the top Google results.

DTM, don't patronize me. -shows large mouth with venomous sharp teeth-

It seems your site has competition, of which some probably already existed before Vocaroo, and you managed to outperform the competition. So maybe it wasn't just the idea but the execution of it. I was thinking, you could for example think of something similar, only for graphics instead of sound, like an online painting program, but there seem to be many of those, or an online webcam recorder to record small videos and photos. There aren't too many of that one yet, but still two solid sites that are probably hard to outperform.

My new site Voices in Head isn't doing well. It's only ranked on the second page of Google search for "voices in head" instead of being #1 as I had expected. I had expected this because it seemed Google ranked sites first of which the url matched the search keywords. I'm a bit disappointed. I'm going to try to get more traffic by posting the link on forums and do link exchanges, but I'm not hopeful that my rank will increase much...

There has DTM, been an iOS port for some time now but Bennu isn't really a way forward for me (though I had that idea myself). Thanks for the suggestion though.

I could go into how Bennu/DIV was a great learning tool for me but is pretty much redundant for professional use in my opinion. Though that is a much bigger subject.

It is nice to hear people's thoughts on the subject, yes. Zomg: I didn't understand your last post. No one wrote anything grammatically incorrect!

I have finished my Hero: The Realm worklog on booleansoup.com if anyone would be a bit interested. Now starting a new worklog for my Unity3d projects at http://squarefishspad.blogspot.co.uk

I remember looking hard to see if the idea was already done at the time, and not finding anything similar. Though, it remains more user friendly than some, maybe that's its niche.

I don't know if there's any sure way to get high rankings in google. It can take a while to move up in the Google results. You may find effort you put in now will have the effect some months later.

Try a *lot* of different things and see what works. Trial and error..

That's some crazy stuff you've been through Rincewind... O_O

The website probably seems somewhat strange to you if you've never heard voices, but I can assure you everything I've written is true, and the voices some people (including me) hear actually have an external source, and are not generated by the human brain. This made it a bit of a mystery to find out what was going on exactly, and since 2009 I've been learning a lot about the persons these voices belong to, and what they can do exactly. Since I couldn't find any truthful information about the source of these voices on the internet, I decided to share my findings because I'm sure people can be helped with it. I've indeed been through lots of crazy things the last 4 years, and I'm hoping my life will get a little easier as soon as possible.

I've decided yesterday to move out of Amsterdam (where I currently live) to Rotterdam or the Hague, because this city only brought me problems, and a lot of them. All I want is to be left alone so I can sit behind my pc in peace and program computer games and create websites, that shouldn't be too hard to get really. :what:

I'll raise you a toast to that :)

hey, you can earn a lot less and still survive in Thailand or somewhere! I've considered the possibility of being a "digital nomad" before.

but maybe don't tell too many people IRL about your problems...
