Openoffice.org
Firefox 1.5
The Java Runtime Environment
Quicktime
iTunes
Mac OS X
Windows XP
Any distribution of Linux
Realplayer
Half-Life 2
Steam
Flash
Shockwave
Adobe Acrobat

I hope there's a hell so the makers of these pieces of software can burn in it. And their families too.

More to come as I recall more HAET.

I hate MSN, with all my heart. Also some of Woody's Haet List: Steam, Quicktime, iTunes, Acrobat and Realplayer.
Furthermore, IE can felch me anytime.

Photoshop is shit, it's big and bulky and is just a haven for people to apply a bunch of filters to a shitty anime image and call it art, it's also amazing at slowing down a system just by being minimised. Adobe seem to be good at this because Acrobat Reader does the same.

Office is crap crap crap, it's slow and annoying, it's hard to get to places, not easy to navigate and is unpredictable. To top it off it alse likes to throw a million temporary files all over the place for no reason.

Fenix is the buggiest thing ever made.

Openoffice is bloated and sucks up monstrous amounts of CPU even while idle. I expected nothing more from a Java program, though. I only mentioned Firefox 1.5 because Quicktime and Flash refuse to work. I have to open K-Meleon or IE to see anything. Also, they added embedded media files support AND THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN THE FUCKING THING OFF. I DON'T WANT 30-MEGABYTE TECHNO WAVS PLAYING ON WEBSITES.

Openoffice.org 2.0 is pretty slow starting I must admit, but it's okay when it's open, nothing compared to the Visual Basic dungheap that is MS Office.

QT and Flash wont work for you in FF? Both work fiiiine for me. And for embedded media, there's probably an extension, but yeah you should be able to turn that off anyway. Is there nothing in about:config?

And nothing wrong with Trillian. Except having to pay for webcam/voice support.

The fading shit on the main window when you sign on. And the whole UI is basically a mess of PhpBB-wannabe graphics. And the menus that don't use XP's menu standards or settings...

Let's not forget that trillian has a bug that means it drops messages on all media. There's a 14-page thread on the forum about it and its been there since version 2.

And yeah quicktime refuses to work on my firefox installation but flash does work. Does the stop button not end the embeded media? That always worked in IE =/

[edit - someone tell me why that url isn't working, please :groar:]
[edit - UGH stupid show bug. That seriously needs fixing Ferret]

Trillian works kickass for me, I love it. Got Trillian Pro 2.012, maybe the Pro thing has something to do with it. Looks tidy, compact and useful, unlike MSN. Yuck! And it has sound support for (animated) smileys! Woohoo!
Fenix works when you get to know...which...takes some time. The most crappy part of it is to overcome some flaws.
I'll see into this Foxit Reader when I might need it.
And WOODY: What OS are you using and what program do you use to chat via MSN?

I really like Miranda - its small and neat and does a basic job well instead of being a huge sluggish monstrosity that takes up half your screen with an advert laden window and has a million features you don't care about.

I'm sorry, but I have to stop you here. Photoshop is an industry standard, and that would be because it does pretty much everything. The stuff it's not so good at (text and vectors) Adobe cover with other software (InDesign and Illustrator respectively). Sure people just (ab)use it for filtering over images of Haruka from Pokémon or something. But that's the nature of a totally versatile piece of software. And by the way, on macs, Photoshop (at least seems to) manage memory far better. Only once on my powerbook has it slowed down, but I was working on an image 20,000 pixels across and 25,000 down or something.

By the way, you all use msn but hate it. Is it the actual msn client or just in general? The mac version doesnt properly work with proxys it seems, so I'm going to add 'Adium X' to your list.

Photoshop is great. And the filters are actually very helpful. It just takes a bit of time to get used to (a couple of months following tutorials for example). I think you're just a bit jealous ;)

And about art: there's people walking around on this forum who call random object compositions in ms paint art, *click*.

Oh yeah and Fenix is just awesome for everything DIV was awesome for, but better (despite the few bugs it has).

And MS Word is not slow for me at all, it's actually very light weight. And that's not just because my computer is great(it's 4 years old).

It's just a bit pathatic to hate software pieces because of some bugs or other imperfections while the rest of a program can be great. Ypu should never forget programmers are human too.

I can use Photoshop very well thank you, I prefer PSP, but my trial ran out and I havn't been bothered to "fix" that.
The abuse is unbelieveable though, everything is looking the same these days, it's bad when you can do things like walk around town and point out PS filters.

You cannot be using Office XP. Word 2000 is still fast, but it still does the temporary files thing and does it's unpredictable crap of shuffling stuff around for no reason.

These companies also have lots of money to make thier product good. The feature race ruins too many things.
