Ah yes, today is another day in which yet another friend of mine gave me the classical treatment:

- The person in case is only available for 10 seconds of talking. After this, he or she leaves. "I'm too busy" is the big excuse.

- The person in question appears to have NO time AT ALL for you. That's right. It doesn't matter what day of the year it is. If you ask him or her something, he or she will answer: "I'm too busy sorry".

- When you ask them out if they would like to hang out sometime - regardless of when you ask it: "I'm too busy for the next four months". WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!

- I've been going to a sports club for nearly a decade (a decade!!!) and the people I 'know' there NEVER THE FUCK ASKED ME OUT OR EVEN LET ME KNOW THEIR LAST NAME. That's even worse. How the fuck is this possible? Why are they like this?

I'm pretty sick of this behavior. When will Western people start acting normal? My girlfriend is Italian and she has Italian friends etc. How about we take a look at her life, shall we? Also, of her friends' lives:

- Everyone has time for each other. They always smile and are always happy. They have time for each other even though they are married and have children, they always manage to hang out with each other. I see nothing but pictures of happiness and friendship of them. My girlfriend keeps friends FOR LIFE. And she means it. That means you will never let go of the person and you will go out with the person at least 3 days per week. Her friends go out thrice PER DAY each other!!! I know this. I've been there. We barely finished going out in the afternoon and her friends (the same ones) were calling us YET AGAIN to go out - only this time at night. So yes, in the morning, afternoon and night. This happened like 5 days per week or even 6. Sometimes I got mad at my girlfriend saying I'd want time for ourselves.

The point is: Italian people don't lie in your face - they don't pretend - they don't find excuses about who they are. They have BALLS and more importantly; they are genuine. How about we ask a Westerner if he wants to go out? "Let me check my agenda". How about: "BE FUCKING HONEST WITH ME". Yeah, that sounds great. Not that hard is it now?

If you ask me, Western people have psychological problems, because this behavior is just not normal anymore.
Who the hell wants to live like this? No wonder there are so many suicides in the Western world.

FUCK Western society.

That's all I have to say.

Hmm, last time I honestly told a person I simply didn't want to go out I never saw them again...

Well, I was actually fairly happy about that.

But sometimes pure honesty will cause unintended offence.

I like straightforwardness too, since I worked in Holland and Belgium I clearly see diffferences. Ah, a great aspect of Belgian hospitality. We are polite, modest and certainly not bragging. Now let us flip the coin. The backside of the coin is as follows: In Belgium you can live with the idea your coworkers are satisfied about you. Even your employer always smiles and is very polite to you. Yay! Then it is evaluation period and you think you'e done great and the verdict is that they are not happy at all and you're fucking fired. Meh, so far the epicness of politeness. It's a backstabbing culture. You are supposed to smell it if you are not doing your best because no one will fucking tell you. Oh, the whole department knows, of course. Everyone is talking about it, gossiping behind your back. One collegue here was very smelly. Please don't laugh, it's true. He smelled like a shit being dumped in garlic. It's terrible for the guy, but the point is that everyone was laughing with it, when he wasn't around, but no one ever had the guts to tell him. After a few months of lolling about it : saying he probably has scabies and fleas all over him and saying his wife must have lost her ability to smell.... everyone declared that he should know so a managing person told him he has and unpleasant sweaty odor and should take action because his collegues experienced discomfort (note the euphemism). And then he regularely used deodorants and stuff and problem was solved, after MONTHS of useless time waste. Where I'm now people badmouth about everyone, so I bet people have been badmouthing about me too when I wasn't around. My contract (I'm a consultant)ends and everyone is satisfied about my job, but they might also have said behind my back that I fucking sucked, and I'll only know when i have my evaluation period in November.

A backstabbing culture proven, so I understand his frustration. But is it really so much better anywhere else? Yes, probably, but then there are other things that might bother you... for example: Italy is claimed to be very misogynistic. Women are objects and being whistled at is considered a compliment. A woman with a carreer is a whore and women are only good for laundry, cleaning, dishes, sex and taking care of babies/men. Men should not ever clean up anything and men are allowed to bitchslap their wives if they don't clean up the man's shit.

Of course, aren't these all stereotypes? :)

Oh well, it's always easy to critisise something, but how about seeing what you get and less what you're not getting.

No, that's not called being misogynistic. That's called being a man. Of course you whistle at women! You are a man! Jeez. You admire their sex! This is what women complain about: men are not men anymore. They need to be more man! Yes, since the time of man's existence these are the roles: Man is hunter and gatherer. Woman is furnisher. Or did you forget about these rules? About bitchslapping I don't agree.
