So,

You all know about the ever so annoying captcha system, right?

The system where you have to type in a random combination of characters that appear all distorted inside an image.

Few issues with this:
1) You can't see them if you have a NoScript engine enabled (FF,Chrome) and you would need to know what domain to unblock

2) The biggest issue is people who have a bad eye vision.
For example my martial arts teacher. He is 70 years old. How is he going to be able to do things if systems nowadays are almost taken over by captcha? He is also colorblind. A lot of systems out there ask for color confirmation.

I think I need to tell the W3C that they are not considering people with disabilities.

Any ideas on this?

1) I asume more things wouldn't work if you disable javascript.
2) Many captcha systems have an audio version.
3) For less crowded sites, it's quite easy to think of an own captcha system and that works quite well. For instance something like : empty this text box before posting your command. (then use javascript to empty it as soon as the textbox gets focus of course)

Another solution would be this:

Q: Think of a colour and a tool and scroll down

IF answer == "red hammer" THEN
authentication_completed();
END

no algorithm would get it right bu 98% of the people would think of a red hammer, so...
