... google's soon to be released web browser.

Reading the comic it really seems quite awesome. Dare I say almost exciting :S

It's even got a special privacy mode that can only have been designed for porn. :yay: :annoyed:

That privacy mode is DEFINATELY designed for porn :).
It looks like a cool browser, almost definately get it when it's out. AND ITS FREE!!

Also, I was completely unsurprised at the end when it said the comic was drawn by Scott McCloud. Felt exactly like reading Understanding Comics.

It's working for me. I'm using Chrome right now.
Everything seems to work. So far that is.

I can't get over how fucking minimal this ui is. It's like my whole screen is website. Hard to explain really.

I downloaded it and installed it and ran it and I was all excited but then I noticed all the ads, and the lack of a gmail icon in the bottom right, and the minimal configuration. Unless Chrome gets extension functionality and a community, Mozilla will always have my <3.

Yeah, I'm not switching from firefox unless I can still edit cookies (mwhahaha), and have all the other nice things that come from browser plugins.

Chrome is nice though --> especsially the each tab a different process thing. There are bugs though (like urls that make it crash), but I guess that's life with beta software!

In other news, IE8 still doesn't look like it will catch up with firefox: http://tech.slashdot.org/artic … 8/09/02/1418252

Well, I've always run at least 2 browsers on my system. Firefox for most of the time and Safari for just when I quickly want to see a page.
I think I'm probably going to use Chrome instead of safari, simply because it's open source.

It also gives me maximum screen real estate for my laptop, whilst still giving me a proper address bar, which is nice :)

EDIT: ARG!!!!!!!
It doesn't do the scrolling thing when you click the middle mouse button! That'll drive me insane!

I haven't noticed any ads woody. I have far less obtrusive advertising shit pop up than when I used Firefox.

I never really use many extensions for Firefox (I know there are loads of good ones out there, but I feel like I have everything I need 'out of the box' so to speak) so it's not a problem I'm having with Chrome at all.

Chrome does seem to handle video streaming quite badly though. Which is a bit of a shame as I can't move completely over. That and there's definite lag on pages cropping up.

So far it seems like a fast and clean browser. But there's some weird stuff in the EULA. But I'll keep it installed. The comic shows a lot of interesting stuff.

Since been changed, it was Google's blanket copy-paste EULA. Which is what I kept telling everyone. :eyeroll:

It's called marketing. How much % of the internet surfers in the world use windows? How much % of the internet users in the world use something else?

It's not "marketing" it's a development strategy. Google like to push things out as fast as possible, for them that usually means targeting one platform only initially. Linux and Mac versions are forthcoming, just not yet.
