I finally bought one. Well, pre-ordered as it's still not been released. The funny thing is now you have to order by email and bank transfer/cheque! Oh, and the price has been upped to 260 pounds - maybe because of the sinking pound and lack of dev funds. So that's disapointing. Ariel: I need this stuff! I'm hoping to develop Bennu games on it. Also i want to use it as a multi-console with the TV-Out. Expected arrival of the Pandora: Mid-March i think. [Edited on February 7, 2009 by Mezzmer] ____________ |

If you don't want to develop you still have these reasons to "play" with one. * wi-fi browsing on firefox * emulator heaven (all emu up to ps1 - shall work!) * tv-play with bluetooth pads e.g. link wii remotes * customise your linux desktop, and use like a pda * everything is opensource and basically free * you can use the backcatalog of GPX games As far as connectivity goes - do the train systems in your country have wi-fi? some major lines in England do actually have public wi-fi points, and obviously hotels and places. I'd like to see some reviews first. I heard there are some issues with framerate and sound when emulating. games go twice as fast and shit. or is that all rubbish?

rubbish rubbish. when they finish the emulators, should there be such flaws? a auto-frame rate function is standard on all emulators, i'm sure the dev team are good enough to NOT release anything that dosen't work or is unplayable. I can't wait. Though the release is delayed again, we are looking at April now

What? They've been waiting for so long? That's more expensive then, since then could do with the money whatever they want. In that case they could augment the price even more. What a crap service. Do they reply if you mail them? If I want other stuff than a gaming console you might be better of with a UMTC then. I don't want a GP2X anymore, I want to run PSone games for free.

They've got almost finished prototypes put together. Last time I checked they had some issues to sort with the case and the keyboard which they're now waiting on new proofs for. Then it's all off for testing which can take at least a month. Then packaging, docs, software writing etc.... Still some time before Square gets it. ____________ laffo |

Quoting rockford: I'd also go for the Wiz over the GP2X now - it's twice as fast, now has 4 proper buttons (rather than a second D-Pad) and has an internal, rechargable battery. It's also about £92 via PlayAsia, so is cheaper than an F200 and PSP. However, if money is no issue, I'd wait for the Pandora. The Pandora will do everything the Wiz can, and a lot more besides. I think homebrew devs will probably work on both initially, but I can see Pandora hogging the mainshare in the end, due to its sheer power and extra abilities (plus Craigix is based in the UK and will happily discuss problems with developing, unlike GPH who are based in Korea, who dump and run). PSX emulation is already full speed, without optimisation. Other emus are also working, including MAME and SNES - again at full or better speeds, without optimisation. Seriously (sorry for the THIRD post in a row) but a long time has passed and the Pandora is now scheduled for september 2009. I ordered the wiz from play-asia. It will arrive tomorrow (estimated). in the "todo" of the Pandora is still mentioned: "Build a test device and check if everything is okay" so i decided to go for the Wiz for now. It will take some years then before I decide to get me a Pandora. It's too early now I think. We'll see. I'll post a review once I used the WIZ. ____________ Kwakkel |

I got it today. It looks pretty sweet. The controls are a bit to get used to, but I get quite an "Ubuntu" feeling when I use it because of the orange-ish look. The touch screen makes it awesome. It's VERY small, it fits right in my pocket and it weights a little less than my Nintendo DS (not Lite). I don't know how to play Bennu or Fenix games, but if you give me a Wiz-compiled version I'll give it a try. I will keep using it and tell you when I have more experience with it. I recommend it to all Dutch people because of it's Orange interface. jk. ____________ Kwakkel |
